As you may already know, a new version of the Nintendo Ds, the Dsi, will be released in November 2008 in Japan and in 2009 for the rest of the world. Even though the gameplay will be quite the same, the new DSi will have his advantages and inconveniences.

Major advantages :
The new engine will contain two 0.3 mega pixel cameras : one pointed towards the user and one on the outside of the shell.
The screen will be larger than the previous one (3,25 instead of 3 inches).
The new DSi will have improved speakers.
DSi will have its own internal flash memory.
It will be possible to download games from an online store (called the DSiWare Shop).
A parental control will be included.
Major inconveniences :
The new DSi and the old SD cards will not be compatible and you'll have to replace your card if you need one.
The front slot will be removed and you won't be able to play Game Boy Advance games or games that requires that slot anymore (like your current Guitar Hero game for example).
The battery life will be reduced due to his higher power consumption and his slimmer profile.

I still haven't bought the bright yellow Pikachu DS and they're already bringing out a new and improved version. I'd love to have both, but I probably won't be able to afford it. Sounds like it could approach Wii price territory with all those bells and whistles. Two cameras? Really?

probably not... I will keep my DS lite. I don't play it enough to convert LOL!

4I read that it will be late 2009, so you might have to wait till that Christmas. Worth it though, if you need a new one anyway. I read that Mac is actually pretty pissed about its app store. It's basically an iPhone that plays video games instead of having a phone.

the Lite for now 'til the other one comes cuz my Nintendo DS isn't as bright as it was when I first got it and at times I have trouble been able to see clearly

6For those who might be interested to watch it, here is an exclusive interview with the Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, who claimed that the DSi will not be available in North America until after April 2009. Seriously, I think that it's a very interesting video even though it's a bit long (about 10 mins). From my part i think that it worth the wait!
